As a good engineer, I find it hard to believe anything that doesn’t have a scientific explanation. Because of this, I never believed in the Law of Attraction—the idea that just by thinking positive thoughts, you attract positive things, was hard to believe for me
I’m not saying I’m a 100% believer now, but as I mentioned on my home page, I am more open to new things. I have to be. My current way of thinking is what has led me to be where I am right now, so I need to change my mindset.
I can’t complain, and I am grateful to God for everything I’ve achieved. But I know that if I want to climb to a higher level—to 10X—something (or many things) about me must change.
Regarding my experience with the Law of Attraction, this is what happened to me.
The Low Point
I worked for many years as an Operations Manager at a multinational company. After more than 20 years with them, the company went bankrupt. In that instant, I was left without a job, and my problems began.
Due to my age, it wasn’t easy to find a good gull time work. I had a good part-time job in my field, earning $50 an hour, but it wasn’t enough for all our family expenses, so, I also worked part-time doing other things, but earning the minimum wage.
I worked at Home Depot as a “sales associate,” helping customers, organizing, and cleaning. During that time, I also worked part-time in an Amazon warehouse. In both of those jobs, I felt completely undervalued.
My background is in Operations, which means I have always prioritized quality over speed (unless services were down), but in those two jobs, quality was not the priority. For example, at Amazon, I would try to do a quality job and was constantly reprimanded because I had taken one minute longer to pack something. This was because I was careful to put the more delicate items on top of the bag, to ensure everything arrived safely to the final customer. For the managers, that didn’t matter. Only speed was required.
A Lesson in Perspective
I remember constantly telling my co-workers at Home Depot or Amazon, “We have to see this as a temporary job.” Some agreed; others were fine and liked where they were.
There, I learned that not everyone has the same tastes and goals. I remember a co-worker at Amazon told me, “I like this job because it’s easy,” which was the exact reason I didn’t like working there. After that conversation, I learned that everyone’s tastes and priorities are their own personal, valid decisions, and one shouldn’t interfere or judge.
“This is a @#$%^&* job.” “I have more seniority than the Director here!” “How do they not see all the things that can be improved?!” “If I were the boss here, this would run so much better!” “What am I doing here in this @#$% job?!”
…purely negative thoughts, throughout the entire time I was working there,
I remember being perfectly aware that I was having these negative thoughts while I worked. I knew that if one thinks negatively, you’re supposed to flip the switch to positive thoughts to avoid attracting negative things. But no matter what, I couldn’t stop thinking very negative things about this job.
A New "How": The No-Code Platform
It was then, while working in a new website, that I discovered a new no-code platform. It is something like WordPress, allowing you to build websites without being a developer, but much more powerful.
The more I studied it, the more I liked it. So I told myself: “I am going to study this platform, and once I have a good knowledge, I will not only offer services to build websites, but I will also create a course in Spanish and put it on Udemy to sell.“
My brain rationalized it: “I don’t think anyone will hire you to make websites; there is too much competition and people who are much more prepared – and you will not do any sales or marketing…. (remember my “problem” with them?).
“But a Spanish course on this no-code platform will surely work, even if it’s only $50 a month that will slowly increase!”
In that, I saw a way out of my situation at Amazon. I thought, “OK, it’s going to take me another year, but at least I’ll get out.” So, while I studied the platform, I also began to create the first slides for the course.
The Positive Result
A couple of months after I started learning this new no-code platform (and a couple of weeks after I started working on this course), my mindset at Amazon also started to change.
I remember being at work and realizing that I was no longer constantly complaining and angry. I recall it seeming strange, and I said to myself: “I’m not constantly complaining….if the Law of Attraction is real, something different should happen to me, because I am clearly no longer transmitting negativity to the Universe.”
Incredibly, within three months, I found a full-time job in my field.
Now I’m without a job again because this time I was affected by a mass layoff, so I need to generate income sooner rather than later.
My Personal Conclusion about the "Law of Attraction"
In summary, as the saying goes: “I’m not superstitious, but better safe than sorry.” 😊
In this case, I still don’t know if the Law of Attraction is true or not, if it works or not. But that time, something positive definitely happened, aligned with what the authors say will happen when we start “transmitting” positive things to the universe
With that experience, I realized that, in my case, in order to maintain a positive mindset that can overcome my constant negative thoughts about lacking money, I need clarity on the ‘how.’ I need something—some specific business or project—that I genuinely believe will work, even in the long term; something that I can create with the potential to generate good income and help me get out of the hole I’m in.
For me, this is very important. Those who have written about the law of attraction and other personal growth topics say that simply having positive thoughts will help the idea appear sooner or later. But in my case, it’s difficult to have that positive thought without having something concrete that I feel is highly likely to work, even if it’s in the long term.
If there’s no “how,” I find it very difficult to think positively, because that’s like imagining the solution will fall from the sky, and I find that hard to believe.
Today, I haven’t yet found the project or business that will make me feel the way I did in those moments (so I can have that positive thought and attitude).
Today to create a course on Udemy is not enough in order to become a millionaire, my goal now is 10x, but I will find something and I will keep you in the loop
